Abstract: Internet controls are now available to run consumer household appliances and industrial equipment. This extends to control of classroom equipment and recording. This session is a case study which demonstrates the possibilities that Internet control brings to classroom functionality. You will understand how your institution can control classroom hardware and software provided by common classroom control manufacturers such as Crestron and AMX. Live Internet control of classroom projectors and cameras will be demonstrated.

 

Bio: Albert Powell is Director of Learning Technologies for Colorado State University OnlinePlus. He identifies, evaluates and implements educational technologies, designs classrooms and trains faculty in their use. He coordinates across the University. Powell earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Washington State University and a Ph.D. at Texas A&M University. He has 34 years of media and technology experience at land-grant universities. His experience includes audio and video production, satellite teleconferencing, distance and online course development, and media technologies for instruction and classroom design. He is active in professional societies including the USDLA, UPCEA, eLearning Consortium of Colorado, and is a past president of the Colorado Chapter of the USDLA and the Washington State University Alumni Association.
