Abstract:In this interactive session we will share our approach for achieving quality online programs at University of the Rockies (UoR). We will discuss the process of defining, developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of program quality, and share a program evaluation rubric and the process used to create it. Technology systems utilized include eCollege Learning Management System, Waypoint Outcomes™, and Taskstream Accountability Management System.

 

Bio: Julie Frese currently serves as Director of Assessment and Academic Quality at University of the Rockies. In collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts, a goal of the department is to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate quality programs and courses in order to improve the student experience.   The integration of technology into instruction, assessment, evaluation, and the use of feedback to motivate learners in the online learning environment are currently Julie Frese's major areas of interest and research. Her experience includes 25 years in public elementary and middle schools and 15 years at the university level.

We will discuss the process of defining, developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of program quality, and share a program evaluation rubric and the process used to create it.

The mission of UoR includes a commitment to providing high-quality learning to individuals seeking preparation for life goals, professional practice, service, and distinguished leadership. The Department of Assessment & Academic Quality (A& AQ) is charged with overseeing the quality of programs at University of the Rockies. To fulfill this mission, the team works with other departments to determine best practices.

Discussion topics include rigor, scholarship, program learning outcomes, sequencing, and alignment and how these come together to produce a quality program. Small groups will discuss each topic and report out to the larger group. Interconnectedness and continuous improvement will also be addressed.
